World Information: In the world of Promare, a crack in space and time formed at the center of the Earth letting alien flame lifeforms into our world. People with a specific kind of mutation resonate with these beings and the energy of the life forms ties to their own. People with this resonance are called Burnish. When they first awoke it caused half of the Earth to be burnt up in what is now known as the Great World Blaze. A great deal of the human population died in the flames. In the present day and age, thirty years after the Great World Blaze humanity has developed weapons to combat the Burnish fires.

But not everything is as straight forward as it seems. There’s more to the Burnish than just men and women burning things. The city of Promeoplis formed by the head of Anti-Burnish research is at the core of this conflict and the holder of many secrets. For the full details, here is the World info.

Claiming to have a burning soul, Galo Thymos is as bright and energetic as the flames he pits himself against. If lives are on the line he’ll charge in to save them. It doesn’t matter if they’re friend or foe. He shines when there’s danger but being loud and in your face isn’t all there is to Galo. He’s steady and reliable, always having your back when you need support. If you’re doing the wrong thing he will be the first to talk to you about it, appealing to reason. His smarts are all people oriented, which means he misses a lot of the big picture until its in his face. But at least life is never boring when Galo Thymos is around.

Galo lives in the moment. He charges into the fray and adapts on the fly to achieve his goals. He doesn’t bother himself too hard with the details to get to those goals. His confidence is like the flames he fights, bright and burning hot. The fact his plans work tend to make it easier to live like that. It’s an adaptive plan that earns him the trust of the Burning Rescue team and the confidence of his captain despite his lacking in sim hours.

Possibly a product of knowing Kray Foresight the mayor and hero of the city personally, Galo’s prone to ignoring orders he doesn’t agree with. He chooses action over sitting still and gets irritable and impatient to the point of being annoying if he can’t act. He’s arrested once and that doesn’t even slow him down. His status with the law doesn’t matter, only the lives he can save do.

Saving lives is Galo's top priority. It doesn't matter if they're friend or foe, he'll do what he can to protect people in danger. It doesn't even enter his mind to do anything else. He keeps medical equipment on hand in case he needs to lend aid to someone in need.

To say Galo is passionate about his beliefs is under selling it. Galo goes to the wall for what he believes in. He even opposes his former hero when it turns out he's not what he thought he was. This strength ties into his deep compassion for other people. He reigns himself in when he's angry and avoids doing anything to cause trouble for those who would be affected directly by his actions. He even does things he wouldn't normally do like lighting a fire, all to protect innocent people.

It is also because of how much he cares for others that Galo seeks to understand the people around him. He's good at reading people something seen often in how he approaches emotional situations. From apologizing for his own prejudices and adjusting his behavior, to choosing not to address someone as they told him not to. He tries to appeal to reason if he can. It's his first choice and when he had to make the choice to save a foe or not. He chose to save the enemy in front of him along with everyone else.

While we're on the subject of beliefs and heroes. It's important to talk about Galo's childhood hero, Kray Foresight. From their interactions in canon, Kray doesn't stifle Galo's independence. He allows Galo to speak his mind and even shows him his plans when he could have do otherwise. Galo's fierce loyalty might have hidden hints of how Kray really felt about him but, there is a connection there. Galo's showboat attitude in combat is a lot like Kray's own need to show off and put side by side there's a lot of overlap.

Galo's idealism based on living up to his hero's supposed legacy have formed a solid foundation. He's steady and reliable, always willing to back up a friend or someone in need of help. When faced with the truth he will always choose to embrace it no matter how much it hurts. If he's made errors he will correct himself and move on. This won't change. It's the core of Galo Thymos and why he's far surpassed the hero he sought to live up to.

Main Motivation: Galo is driven by the desire to save lives, from fire or whatever else is threatening them. It’s the core of his beliefs that is unshakable even in the face of bitter betrayal.

Skills:

Paramedic training: All members of the Burning Rescue squad are required to have Paramedic training on top of their ability to operate heavy machinery such as rescue mecha. Galo carries equipment on his bike in the case he has to continue to use this skill outside of work.
Fire Fighting: Fire fighting in the Promare universe is a constantly changing environment where a fire fighter has to be prepared to take on the wielder of the flames. From what we’ve seen of Galo he not only can tell what’s going on with flames at a glance but can predict and react to them on the fly.
Marksmanship: Time and time again in canon, Galo resorts to firing his insta-freezing gun. It’s his weapon of choice even when he could just swing his fists or dodge out of the way. He’s a decent shot, each time he fires he hits his target more than once.
Mecha Pilot: As noted above, all members of Burning Rescue need to have the skills to pilot their Rescue Mecha and perform in combat within them. This is where Galo truly shines as a combat fighter. He’s fast to adapt to a changing battlefield and utilize the mecha’s skills to his advantage. It doesn’t take him long once he’s fired up to find the ways to use unknown machines. Give him a mecha and he’ll find the way to properly use it in no time at all.
Empathy and emotional intelligence: Galo’s greatest skill demonstrated over and over in the movie is his ability to feel empathy and read the emotions of the people around him. Once he discovers the Burnish’s plight, he immediately shifts focus and no longer buys into the lies about them. When Heris visits his cell he tries to appeal to her sense of what is right and wrong. Even reminding her of how her sister would feel about the atrocities she’s committing. All Galo wants to do is help others and this skill is his greatest and most used.
